"I registered for a half marathon being held on February 3rd, 2008 and instead of my normal training schedule of "logging miles" I concentrated on the CATZ training sessions. Between Dec.'07 and Feb. '08 I did only 3 runs of 10-12 miles. However, since joining CATZ, I have religiously attended from 2 to as many as 5 sessions per week. During this time I have seen my "core" strength increase, my sprinting and recovery time improve. Well, I ran the Surf City USA half Marathon in cold blowing rain on Sunday morning February 3rd. To my surprise and excitement, I felt GREAT the entire race and turned in a Personal Best of 1:43:21 which crushed my previous best time by approximately 15 minutes! My next full marathon is in April and I can't wait to see how I do then! "

Goals for next year: Conditioning goal: run more marathons and qualify and compete in Ironman 2007.
How you got started with CATZ: Through my participation in Boston's Run to Remember; CATZ provided a training regimen to prepare runners for the race. Intrigued, I visited the website and inquired about their training philosophies and techniques. I landed in a free training session a week later and was hooked.

Getting to know Tim Creegan:

Any pre-game or pre-practice rituals or routines? Superstitions?
No, not anything yet, but I do like using high-intensity warm-ups like those used at CATZ that involve multidirectional movement instead of simply straight-ahead running.

Most memorable moment.
When I realized that I can be an athlete again.

Specific academic goals or career choices in mind?
Whether the athlete is a student or professional, the lesson learned through CATZ training are equally applicable to the classroom, boardroom, or laboratory: Set goals, surround yourself with knowledgeable and experienced coaching and stay uncompromisingly disciplined to those wants and goals.

Who is the most influential person/people in your life?
Joint health -- poor knees/tightness/weakness in knees; attributed to muscle weakness and lack of flexibility -- CATZ has played a role in alleviating the stiffness and pain that is exacerbated by inactivity and unfocused workouts.

FOR TIM, THE BENEFITS OF CATZ:

To relearn how to move like an athlete again. We perform movements, utilizing no more than your bodyweight, which are as valuable in total leg strength and power as the squat or leg press. CATZ has enabled me to learn to strengthen connective tissue and support muscles easily ignored at the health club. CATZ prepares trains athletes for movements and stresses that will be encountered on the field, course or court by creating workouts that stress balance, are high-intensity, and provide total body conditioning, The goals and abilities vary from athlete to athlete but the potential for improvement is shared by all.

QUOTE FROM HIS CATZ COACH:

\"Great person to have in a group, he sets the tone of the workout and pushes everyone to work harder,\" -Mark Cinelli, LATC, CSCS
