US Men's Volleyball Triumphs in Beijing

BEIJING (Aug. 24, 2008) – The U.S. Men’s Olympic Volleyball Team put tragedy aside and embraced triumph as it defeated defending Olympic champion and world No. 1-ranked Brazil, 20-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-23, and won the Olympic gold medal on Sunday at Capital Gymnasium. The U.S. Men finished the tournament undefeated at 8-0. Brazil won the silver medal with a 6-2 record. Russia defeated Italy, 25-22 25-19 25-23, to win bronze.

CATZ Athletes Make AVP Finals Second Week in a Row.

Last week in Brooklyn and this week in Long Beach, three CATZ athletes make the AVP finals. Misty May, April Ross and Jen Boss squared off against each other at center court for the AVP finals in Long Beach. Again, the best team in the world, May and Walsh, prevailed. But the match was not a blowout and was highlighted by several long rallies.

US Men's Volleyball Wins $1M World League in Brazil

The CATZ trained U.S. Men’s National Volleyball Team won its first FIVB World League title on Sunday by taking as 3-1 (26-24, 23-25, 25-23, 25-22) victory over Serbia in the gold medal match before a crowd of 5,700 at Maracanazinho Gymnasium in Rio de Janeiro.

Ross Adds Another Win in Portland

Ross, the 2007 AVP Most Improved Player, finished up an impressive weekend by teaming up with Dianne DeNecochea to defeat regular partner Jen Boss and Annett Davis, 17-15. Ross joined Rachel Wacholder with the most HWN titles this year, four.

US Men's Volleyball Team Wins Berth To Beijing Olympics

The U.S. Men’s National Volleyball Team qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-20) victory over Puerto Rico on Friday at the 2008 NORCECA Continental Olympic Qualifying Championship in Caguas, Puerto Rico. The U.S. Men won the tournament with a 5-0 record and without dropping a set. Puerto Rico finished second with a 4-2 record. Cuba defeated Canada to finish third.
