CATZ - USC to study ACL injury prevention
CATZ, USC, UNC & Santa Monica Orthopedic Group project
CATZ has been selected by the University of Southern California to collaborate in a project to study ACL injury prevention in female athletes as part of a $1.2 million, 3-year grant from the National Institute of Health. In addition to USC, CATZ will also be working with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Santa Monica Orthopedic Group.
The purpose of this study is to identify gender specific movement patterns that may cause non-contact ACL injuries during sport activities. In addition, the study will quantify the effects of a training program to reduce the incidence of such injuries.
USC selected CATZ to train all 300 subjects during the study. The selection of CATZ was based on its reputation as one of the country’s leading providers of training for youth athletes. CATZ will also use its extensive contacts in the soccer community to assist USC in recruiting subjects for the study.
