CATZ takes team to National Titles!!

The SoCal Mustangs recently competed in the USATF (USA Track & Field) Junior Olympic Nationals at Mt. Sac in Walnut, CA. The event boasted over 6,000 athletes from across the Nation, including many Youth World Champions.

The Mustangs qualified TWELVE athletes ranging from ten to 16 years old! To qualify, athletes must place in the top eight in their event and age group in the SoCal Association, then in the top three in the Region, which includes all of SoCal and parts of Arizona & Nevada. This format is followed for qualifying athletes in all 50 states.

After the week-long competition at Mt. Sac, our Mustangs turned up with a 1st place National Champion, a 7th place medal, and an 8th place medal. The remainder of the Mustang athletes all placed in the top 14 in their age group, with the exception of two technical disqualifications.

Mustangs coach Elias Munoz commented on the team's recent accomplishments, saying "the SoCal Mustangs consider the CATZ program to be an integral part of our training regimen. Your staff members, most especially the coaches, are awesome and have never failed to provide an excellent & supportive session. We think that CATZ training has been instrumental in building strength, speed, body control, injury reduction, injury prevention, and self-confidence."

The Mustangs began training with CATZ coaches Matt Janusz and Mike Mora 11 months ago.

“They’re a great group of kids,” says Mora. “They had a strong work-ethic all on their own, so it was easy to build on that. They also know how to enjoy their practices and internalize what we tell them, so they get the most out of each session. We were aiming to have them peak at this event, and that’s exactly what they did.”

Munoz added, "The SoCal Mustangs wish to thank CATZ for helping us achieve National Level performance, confidence, and prominence."
