Matt Gray - Athlete of the Month (May 2009)

Chandler, AZ (May 2009) - CATZ – Competitive Athlete Training Zone - has been selected Matt Gray of Gilbert, AZ as CATZ Competitor of the Month for December 2009. CATZ Coach Brian Clark, along with testimonials from other coaches help select Gray from hundreds of other athletes for his demonstration of teamwork, leadership, dedication, and competitive spirit within his off-season training and pre-season conditioning program at CATZ. Sixteen-year old Gray, who competes in basketball has been doing conditioning, agility and strength training with CATZ since the Fall 2007. CATZ is a nationally-recognized premier strength, conditioning, and performance training company and Gray distinguished himself from hundreds of other athletes through his academic and athletic achievement.

“Matt's dedication to improving his strength and conditioning, in addition to his positive attitude and competitive drive, made his an obvious candidate for this award,” said CATZ - Chandler Performance Director Brian Lee. Gray is also a student at Mesquite High School, where he competes on Boy’s Basketball Team.

Gray’s High School Basketball coach, Tom Saltzstein of Mesquite High School also commends Gray’s work ethic, team spirit and determination. “One of the best things about Matt, in regards to having him be a part of the Mesquite High School Boys' Basketball Program, is his dedication and work ethic. Matt is a tireless worker and it shows in him always being in top physical shape. He is also a big time competitor, he hates to lose,” said Saltzstein.

“My goal for next year is to get dunk in a varsity basketball game,” said Gray. “My academic goal is to get all A’s for the remainder of my high school career. Other than that, I know that I want to play basketball in college for the University of Arizona or Colorado State University.”

Gray was awarded this honor at the CATZ - Chandler location at the 825 E Warner Rd in Chandler this month.
