Jimmy Conrad Named MLS Defender of the Year
Major League Soccer announced yesterday that Kansas City Wizards and CATZ athlete Jimmy Conrad has been named the MLS Defender of the Year.
The 28 year-old Conrad earns this award after finishing as the runner-up in 2004. The seven-year MLS veteran has had a whirlwind season that included: (1) starting in his first MLS All-Star Game, (2) starting for the MLS Select Team that faced Real Madrid, and (3) competing for the U.S. Men’s National Team that won the Gold Cup.
When learning that he had won the award for Defender of the Year, Conrad said, “I would not be nearly as successful without CATZ and the mental and physical preparation it gives me. CATZ training gives me discipline and challenges me so when I hit my limit I can push through. CATZ is even a part of me when I’m with the Wizards because the coaches have taught me how to take care of my body. I refer back to their advice often.”
This is the second year in a row that a CATZ athlete has been named MLS Defender of the Year. Last year’s winner, Robin Fraser, competes for the Columbus Crew
