CATZ Athletes v. Mexico

CATZ athlete Claudio Reyna represented the USA as part of the US National soccer team against Mexico today, March 27, 2005. The significance of this match for both teams could not be denied.

Three years ago, a devastating 2-0 loss to the USA in the 2002 World Cup, eliminated the Mexican team from the competition. It was a heated match that symbolized the historic rivalry between these countries.

Today, the Mexicans restored their reputation, dominance and bruised ego winning a 2-1 match in front of a crowd of about 100,000.

Claudio Reyna competed nose-to-nose with the Mexicans, but the lone goal of the match, from a feed from Donovan was not enough.

Relentless in preparation and focus, the U.S. is already thinking about and preparing for when they host Guatemala in Birmingham, Alabama on Wednesday.
